By now it should come as no surprise that I am a huge Purity Ring fan. Megan James and Corin Roddick grew up in Edmonton, Alberta together and formed Purity Ring in 2010, a project nurtured by the new generation of experimental electronica coming out of Montreal lately. For me its a combination of both the complex hip-hop influenced beats layered sweeping synth arrangements. That and James’ haunting, oftentimes almost bizarre lyrics. Apparently they come from personal poetry that she never intended for music, but it works. This is one of the best songs off of their debut album, Shrines.
